Battle of the Salons Final Four!

Yes I'm back again

Do I get to use the excuse that I have TWO kids now so I don't have time?! NO!? ;) Well this time I'm going to be selfish. A few months ago, I was invited to compete in a Battle of the Salons. We were paired with another salon, and we had all day Friday to style five models hair, using a given theme. The salon that earned the most points advanced to the next level. Well we won our first competition and are on our way to the FINAL FOUR. So here are some pictures.

Potty Training

We decided to give it a try. Keegan has showed some interest a few times so we thought why not. If it doesn't work, we'll just try again later. Thus begins "naked weekend". He ran around naked all day yesterday. We caught him poo'ing on the rug and rushed him over to the potty. He finished his business in there. YEAH FOR POO POO in the POTTY.

He didn't pee at all in the morning (mental note give this kid more to drink) So off to bed he went with a pull up. When he woke up, the pull up was dry. So we sat him on the potty and didn't get anything. A few minutes later he REALLY wanted to go outside. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... The a few minutes after that we hear the sound of pee'ing on the carpet. We rush him over to the potty and he finished in the potty!!

Today is our second day. And as I was typing this, I hear Chad yell "UH-OH!" I rush over to Keegan and run him to the potty. Again he finished pee'ing in the potty!! Now we just need to get him to go to the potty BEFORE he starts pee'ing. ;)

Fair Time!!

Recap of last year: Keegan didn't want to touch or go near any of the animals. We tried to get him to ride a pony and get got upset. And he wouldn't go anywhere near any of the rides.

THIS YEAR: He had a BLAST!!

We took him to all the animals. He would go up making the noise the animals makes, and he would pet them on the head. So cute.

He rode the pony! He went up and got a ticket, and got right in line, all by himself. Then he laughed and giggled the whole time.

Then we took him over to the rides. I only bought a few tickets so that we didn't waste the money on an unlimited wristband. We didn't know if he would even want to go on any rides. Boy were we wrong!! There was only one ride that he was tall enough to go on by himself, but he loved it!

4th of July

Yes yes, I am slacking.. AGAIN!! PTHHHHHHH

Here's my chunky monkey ready to go to the parade. The last time we had him weighed, he gained 3 pounds in 4 weeks!

And my handsome little boy looking very grown up.

All ready!! We were in the parade. An organization that Chad volunteers with hands out flags to everyone at the begining of the parade so we helped.

Keegan handing out flags

And uber cute VW bus.

Then off to a friends house for swimming bbq'ing and watching the fireworks. Reece's first time swimming in the pool.

Keegan swimming with just floaties for only the 2nd time.

Reece slept through the fireworks. Keegan LOVED them. He laughed and squealed the whole time. My favorite part was when there was a big one, he'd turn to me to make sure I was watching too. He wasn't too fond of having the sparkler in his hand though.

Our new addition

So 3:45 am, I feel a pop and a little wetness, I jump/roll out of bed and yell "Oh crap" and then a BIG gush of water all over the floor. DH thought I was falling out of bed and went from dead sleep to leaping across the bed to try and catch me. I tell him my water broke and he says "Are you sure?" As soon as he sees the floor he says "yup!"

So DH gets on the phone to have his parents come watch Keegan, and I jump in the shower. As soon as DH is done calling "the list" we start packing our bag. We didn't have anything ready yet, and ended up forgetting a bunch of stuff. LOL

We get to the hospital about 4:30. We get set up in a temporary room since all three of the birthing rooms are full. Nurse tells us it's been crazy and it is a full moon. I am only 2 cm dilated and still not having contractions. My water seems to break 3-4 more times (how much stuff is in there?!?) and we get moved to a bigger labor/birthing room.

So we sit around waiting for something more to happen, and reading the baby name book. At 9am still no contractions so they start me on Pitocin. Nurse checks me again so she can guage how the Pitocin is working and she can't feel his head. So she goes and gets an u/s machine. From what she can tell, the head is up under my ribs but she isn't perfectly sure (my placenta is on the front of my uterus). She calls my doctor and she comes to double check. Yup, he's totally breech. If he was tilted at all, she was going to try and turn him but he is perfectly up and down and totally content.

So they start prepping me for a C-Section (cue my freaking out). Doctor tells me that all of the regular OR's are already booked for the day so she will check on the OB OR. A mom giving birth to twins is just being wheeled in. They always deliver twins in the OR since things can change so rapidly with them. So as soon as the twins are delivered, it's my turn.

12 noon, mom with twins starts pushing. 2:30 still no twins at all. (this poor woman!) Around 3 the first twin is born. Then it's another hour and a half before the next twin is born. Nurse tells me that the longest she's seen it take to clean the OR is 45 minutes so we should be going in soon.

By the time the OR is clean, my OB is delivering another baby. So around 7pm they come and tell me it's my turn. (cue next big freak out) The anestheiologist comes and checks my spine since I had such a hard time with the epidural with Keegan. He says he sees why but is pretty sure that he will be able to do the spinal.

I walk into the OR and they lay me down on the table. The anesthiologist tries 10 times to get the spinal in and it won't work. So I have to go under general (cue third big freak out) I ask if DH can come in and kiss me and they said they're not supposed to let anyone in at this point but they do it anyway. So I feel them strapping me to the table and I can remember not really being able to breath, and just wanting to be asleep already. And that I HATE being so flat on my back like this.

Next thing I remember is waking up in a different room and a different bed. Just me and two nurses. I look at the clock and it's almost 11pm. Holy crap I was out for a long time. I had this big urge to turn on my side, so I ask the nurses to help me. I'm not sure if it's because I had been in one position for so long or if it was a lingering thought from before I went under. I have never ever be so freaking tired in my whole life, but I fight to wake myself up so I can see DH and the baby. Chad comes in and tells me he's perfect and they're just wrapping him up and he'll bring him in. My mom comes and hugs me and tells me he looks just like Keegan. I can feel my incision burning.

They bring him in and I ask DH if he named him yet. He said "Um, no. Why would I do that?" DH asks me what name I like, and I tell him the one we found this morning (yup at 5 am this morning in the baby name book, I ask DH if he likes Reece)

So everyone heads off to the room that will be my home for the next few days. I actually get some sleep. Reece doesn't wake up until 6 am. I even ask the nurse to check on him when she comes in to check on me LOL

The morphine knocks my ass out and I take constant naps all Saturday. I finally am forced to get out of bed Saturday night. I have been DREADING this. I get up and it hurts, but not as bad as I thought it would.

We brought Reece Edwin home Tuesday.

He was born at 8:21 pm. 7 lbs 20 inches.

Mr. Independent

I don't know if I'm quite ready for all the new things Keegan is learning to do by himself.

I was watching regular TV, I turn around and he has put a DVD on. He turned on the DVD player, switched the input on the TV and selected play from the DVD menu.

He can get in and out of his highchair all by himself, including fastening and unfastening his belt. It makes it harder to make him sit and finish eating since he can just get up ;)

He's getting very good and stripping all of his clothes off, including his diaper. Sunday we could barely keep him clothed 10 minutes before he was naked again.

He's also figured out the microwave. I put a bowl of spaghetti in and he pressed the button to reheat it. When the light went out, he opened the door, took out his bowl and walked it over to the table.

His stacking and climbing ability is improving everyday. I'm not sure how much higher we can put things.

Pretty soon he'll be able to get his own place ;)

Easter

We went to the assisted living facility where Chad's grandmother lives. They had a really nice easter egg hunt and lunch for the families of the residents. There were eggs everywhere! Keegan filled up two bags.

And the family - all FOUR of us ;)

First Sprinkler Run of the Season

This past weekend we cleaned up the backyard. It was such a nice warm day, that we needed to "check" the sprinklers. It took a little coaxing but he was running through them in no time, have a ball.

Lots of new things in the life of Keegan

On Feb 22nd Chad went out of town for a week to go to a work conference. While Chad was gone, I decided to get some projects done. The day before Chad left for LA, Keegan refused to take a nap. He was so exhausted by bedtime, we figured it would be a good time to put him in his regular bed. He took full advantage of the extra space. The next day I decided to change the toddler bed back into a crib. Phase 1 of getting ready for baby part 2. But now Keegan still likes to sit in it. He was playing in his room and I went to check on him to find him just sitting in there. He had climbed in all by himself. Chad got home on Friday afternoon. Keegan was so glad to see him (ME TOO!) On Saturday we took Keegan to the park and to the Children's Museum. His favorite part is the ball room. He tries to pick up as many balls as he can at one time. He loves the ball pit too.
And we added another chore. He already helps put silverware away from the dishwasher. And now Chad has gotten him to help with the laundry. We have a little stool Keegan stands on and Chad holds the basket for Keegan to unload into the washer. We also think Keegan might be able to tell time now. Every night around 8:45 or 9:00 (his bathtime) he strips down naked. A few nights ago he was playing in his room and we went to get him for his bath and found this just watching Wall-E. And this is what happens at 7 pm when you are too busy and refuse to take a nap all day.

Yosemite

Alright, so I'm slacking AGAIN! A few weeks ago we went to Yosemite to take the kids to the snow. We had so much fun. And considering ice is one of Keegans favorite things to eat, he had a blast.
